I tried Plasti-zap CA with and without an accelerator.  Made the outer surface soft but the bond was lousy.
Tried JBWeld PlasicWeld (clay) and much of it did not harden good enough - I can imprint dents in it with my fingernail.
I tried Testor liquid plastic cement - has acetates and MEK.  Got the surface soft but the plastic became soft and flakey - not gooey like you'd think/want.
I'm thinking the Plasicweld clay stuff was too old to use.  I've seen it get harder than this.  Even so, I don't think it will tolerate screw pressure.  It will just crack.  
I can try the acetone/plastic chips goo idea but would now have to scrape off the clay.
