At work we use something like this:

It works really well. You need a decent one to get the right temperature
curve. Our plan was to build a controller for it, but all the guy who
uses it does it put the boards in, sets the correct program (I think
it's pizza!) and the timer. He usually opens the door when the timer
goes off, but I'm not sure if that's imperative.
He says it's much quicker than hand soldering, but it would be much
quicker again if he had a solder paste printer...
