Assuming it has +/-15 V rails like the MS-20 and its op-amps can
get within 2.5 V of the rails before weird things happen, the
maximum level would be 2 x (15 - 2.5) = 25 V peak-to-peak, which
is very hot (around +21 dBu).

If the MS-20 mini is like the MS-20, you will hit distortion
long before that. I used to use mine as a guitar overdrive unit.

The term suggests some form of automatic attenuation of the
signal. Not sure what that would mean exactly.
