In the eighties and early nineties I worked a lot on SSL 4000 consoles. 
I did not like to work on that console in regards of the UI (I loved the 
ADT for their clear surface design instead), but I have to admit that 
everything I made on these consoles sounded good. And it is f*cking 
great to have a compressor and a noise gate in each channel...

Today I use a PRIME 4000E SSL clone. I don't want to miss it.
