Delayed vibrato was found on many synths in the 1970s because they 
didn't have aftertouch controlled vibrato. Once you've used that, the 
fixed delay time, fixed modulation depth of the older circuits becomes 
somewhat less invigorating.

Of course, one needs a decent aftertouch keyboard... and they do seem to 
have dropped off the radar of late.
