I bought the Mim's book for my grand daughter at Radio Shack. After she
took a quick look at it and wasn't very interested, I took it back and
bought the Make: Electronics book.

The Make: Electronics seems to be a much better book the the Mim's book.
My grand daughter had fun with the first experiments, and we will
continue - probably this week. The book has a good mix of hands on,
theory, history and diagrams/photographs. We will see how it goes.

I'm also a fan (I believe) of Malvino. IFRC he wrote transistor circuit
approximations which is the best book I found on transistors and
circuits. I will have to find the book on the shel to confirm. I used
the information from Transistor Approximations (IFRC the title) to
create a unijunction transistor from two transistors and resistors.
