I think it always depends on... can you use a self resonating filter as
an oscillator? If this filter based "sine oscillator" is used as
modulator for something else in the average audio range, then you might
want to turn down the frequency of the
modulator(=sine-oscillator(=resonating VCF)) into the LFO range.
I think the subject of this thread is a bit narrow minded if we talk
about modular systems. In a modular system nothing is defined to do
signals in the audio range only. If we talk about a minimoog-style fixed
patch synth, then the subject is ok.
