Walter Jung's 1974 IC Op-amp Cookbook doesn't have the TL series yet, but the 1980 edition states:
"In October of 1976, Texas Instruments introduced the TL084..."
And then later, "Texas Instruments further improved and broadened their line of FET devices with the introduction of the TL071 series in July of 1977. ...similar to the TL081 series, but feature lower noise and distortion for ac uses."
