[sdiy] Soldering iron recommendations

+1 for the Hakko FX888D. $90 well spent.  Best budget iron I have ever
seen/used and I solder ~20 hrs a week.

I am over the whole Weller thing, after going through 2 of them over 10
years I am over it.  I've had a bunch of them fail at work as well. They are
OLD tech and almost twice what the Hakko is (with crappier regulation,
slower heat up, less options, fewer and more expensive tips).  While on the
topic of Hakko, an 808 is a good investment as well (desolder gun), you know
you have a good product when the suction is enough to pick up the pcb
