Someone in irc.freenode.net #arduino pointed me in the direction of these:

It's a bunch of wee boards with pots, sockets, amps, and generally useful modules for prototyping synths on breadboards.  All the stuff that you either spend time building over and over, or the bits that don't quite fit.

These look very handy, and might even cause me to revise my negative opinion of breadboards.
