Tom,
Through-hole or SMT?
Through-hole has many fewer choices. Might try an NXP BAT85,113 which
occupies about the same space as a 1N4148 and its VF is 400mV. Speed
is 5nS, which is pretty quick. But if you could live with SMT, I'd
suggest a Vishay LL101C-GS08. It has a VF of only 390 mV and has a
speedy 1nS switching time. Don't know about your circuit so don't
know about voltages to which these diodes would be subjected in the
"off' state.
