Hi all,
With recent discussions here about digital oscillators, aliasing, period
jitter, etc, I can wholeheartedly recommend taking the time to watch
this short video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cIQ9IXSUzuM
It debunks a number of popular misconceptions about digital sampled
signals and is presented in a very friendly and non-technical way. It's
an easy watch for anyone wanting a gentle introduction to digital audio
with some practical and educational realtime demos. It's also a good
refresher for those already familiar with the concepts. (Speaking as
someone who teaches in DSP, I can also assure you that it remains
factually accurate on a technical level too.)
The latter part discussing timing resolution of features in a sampled
signal is of particular interest to those making digital oscillators for
synths, etc.
-Richie,
PS. I have no connection with the producer of the video. I just saw it
linked on another forum I frequent and thought it was good.
