[sdiy] SH101 Power circuitry transistor getting -very- hot

Hi Maarten,
thanks for your feedback. I did some investigation, cutting traces etc, and found that after disconnecting some opamps, the CPU and related CMOS chips (4050, 4052) around it, consumption is still around 150mA. that’s a good drop from 230mA but this is still high.
I noticed that disconnecting the -5v from the VCO chip (pin 3) drops the consumption down to 50mA (without the CPU et al reconnected) … interesting… reconnecting the -5V and disconnecting pin 12 (ground) has same effect. I will check capacitors around the VCO (I did change the electrolytic ones already though) but hope the chip is not bad. I don’t think so as I managed to get the SH101 working perfectly, tuning OK etc, the power consumption and trannies getting hot in the power supply being the only problem.
sounds weird no ?
