Well, if I used an LM13700, then it would not be a NOOTA, it would be a 
cheezy synth board.

I do not use any Blackmer IC chips.  All the blackmer cells are 
implemented with 4 transistors and one op amp.  I am getting tired of 
having chips ripped out from under me.  So, the idea of this project was 
to use as generic parts as is possible.  The only two "odd ball" parts 
on the board are the ATmega328 and the MAX551.

Everything else is pretty generic.  Dual op amps, LM311, DG201, 2N3904, 
and the 2N3906.

Can't get much simpler than that.
