[sdiy] Books for young ones

The book that got me into electronics was this one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adventure-Micro-Electronics-Tom-Duncan/dp/8183332714/ref=pd_sim_b_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1470NW9X3T75VWJ80VW8

I was a little bit older, perhaps 10 or 12, so make your own judgement, but experimenting with a breadboard and some CMOS chips and a 9V battery for the first time was what did it for me. Perhaps another Tom Duncan book would be more suitable for a younger person.

Specifically, I discovered that I could alter his circuits to make different sounds, (changing values of RC filters and similar) and that lead me to wonder how an electronic circuit makes a sound anyway, and what a "sound" is. After that, I was hooked on electronic synthesis, and I'm still learning today.

Regards,
Tom
