When the pot gets scratchy - i.e., the resistance between the wiper
and the resistive track fluctuates when turned or even when still -
then this solution is said to give more problems with unwanted noise
since much more current is drawn through the wiper. Current through
the fluctuating resistance gives a fluctuating voltage, a.k.a. noise,
to your signal.
But ah, since it's the LFO rate, it's probably not that critical
though. I expected it to be the resonance pot. :-)
