It's a bit evil if you're on a low-bandwidth connection like GPRS, as I frequently am.

If you don't want to upload the video to Youtube/Vimeo/whoever is flavour of the month, then you could consider using Flowplayer which is a very, very simple library to embed a video player on your site.
