if 4 poles are linked in 4-pole LP configuration, then it simply IS a 
4pole OTA filter. 2164 is an OTA but with one input grounded and less 
distortion than, say CA3080, plus expo control of gain.

Which also means that with enough feedback (high resonance) it will go 
up to supply rails badly distorting, while OTAs with caps at the output 
to GND, and not feeding the integrators, will not be so harsh.

Which then again means that if you feed an integrator with CA3080 like 
typical 2164 filter, then the signal will also be clean and at some 
point will hit the supply rails in a wild uncontrolled and wacky manner.
