Your right no need for voltage control, a HP or BP filter with
resonance is what I usually patch in.
As I don't have those in an RC flavor I end up using a VCF module.

Mainly kick, it results in those long "hard-style" type of
kick/bass-line sounds.
But also on cowbell, toms or claves.
