Hello all,
so I'm trying to replace the internal micro SD card in the Korg Wavedrum with a Toshiba FlashAir SD card.
Inside the Wavedrum there's a micro SD card on which the presets and other things are stored. A FlashAir card is meant to be used primarily with digital cameras so that photos can be transferred from the camera to the computer without connecting the two with an USB cable. To the camera, or Wavedrum in this case, the FlashAir card looks like a standard SD card. On the other hand, it sets up a WLAN access point so that a computer (or smart phone etc) can access the data on the card via its internet browser.
The FlashAir is a standard-sized SD card while the Wavedrum uses a micro SD card so I used this adaptor:

More info on the FlashAir is here:

It would be so great if that worked. I wouldn't have to pull the card out of the Wavedrum and insert it into the computer's card reader and move it back all the time. The FlashAir works perfectly as a SD card in the Wavedrum, however it doesn't show up via WLAN, even when it is very close to the computer. On the other hand, it works well if I insert it into other devices, like a cheap digital camera or a photo slide scanner.
The FAQ for the FlashAir says: "As soon as the FlashAir™ SD Card is powered up, it starts offering a Wireless LAN Access Point." My first idea was, the Wavedrum might turn off the supply voltage for the card when not in use. But the 3.3 volts are there right at the card socket all the time, measured with a DVM.
I'm clueless. Any ideas?
Ingo
