if you use a TL082 buffer perhaps phase reversal will happen when the 555
discharge pin opens and the pot voltage swings to +15V. An additional pulldown
R from the upper side of the pot to GND can keep the buffers input voltage
< 10V. Another buffer option would be a PNP voltage follower ( B to  
wiper, C to GND, E to D-pot) no phase reversal danger here ;-)
