I've used the salae logic, and it can sometimes handle 24 MHz. It's
like a crap shoot. The reason for the random fail is that the logic
is designed using USB Bulk transfer instead of USB Isochronous
transfer. Bulk guarantees delivery, like a hard drive, but the timing
is not guaranteed - but since the logic has no storage, and timing
delays result in loss of data and the end of your sample. If they'd
used Isochronous, the timing would have been guaranteed not to get
behind, and there would be no data loss. I spoke with the developers
of the logic, and they are aware of the problems, but developing new
USB firmware is not cheap or easy.

The Logic Sniffer - whether you get it from Dangerous Prototypes or
Gadget Factory - is quite different. It can sample at 100 MHz or 200
MHz. It does 16 channels at 200 MHz, and 32 channels at 100 MHz.
There is internal storage, but it is limited. Fortunately, there are
programmable triggers so that you can control the window of time that
you look at with your available memory. There is also a compressed
storage format that extends the time.

I used both the salae logic and Logic Sniffer in the development of
the Soundplane.

There is no way the salae logic can properly capture at 24Mhz. I
haven't tried the logic16 version, that might do it, but those guys
are fast and loose with their numbers.

the inntronix is pretty great, i use it a lot.

the sump, especially the dangerous prototypes version is probably the
best.
