One of the interesting features of these variations is that they will have different beating characteristics when two are mixed. You can play with this by putting two different oscillators through different allpass networks before summing them. They won't ever fully cancel or fully reinforce. I think a square wave beating with a hilbert wave would have a much more uniform beating quality. Some of the other combinations would cancel different groups of harmonics at different points.
