[sdiy] I want to start building audio stuff. What parts shouldI get?

I'm too lazy to keep a complete, up-to-date inventory, but I save all order details in a long, searchable list so that I can at least quickly find out what I 'might' have in stock.

For modules that we have in production, a BOM with inventory spreadsheet is invaluable, even when not 100% accurate.

Asides from that: I wouldn't buy parts myself unless I needed them for something I was actually going to build. However I was advised early on to always order a few extra of everything (within reason), and have found that a great way to build up a collection of useful parts.
