I also find breadboard to be far easier than dealing with making circuit boards (drilling holes for 10-20 quad opamps sounds like an absolute nightmare).

I go directly from schematic to one-pad-per-hole and do all the layout on the fly, it's quick, easy to modify and you can test each sub-part individually by simply separating the power for each part and not connect them until the end.

I think though that mostly it's a matter of what you enjoy doing. I personally don't enjoy cooking acid baths and drilling but i find soldering quite relaxing so my choice is easy :)

My etching kit is a 6" x 9" pyrex dish in the laundry-room basin.  My drill
press is a Ryoki table-top model.  I keep it on a little rolling IKEA
cabinet that used to be in our kitchen.
