[sdiy] CD405x series power supply question

I modified my PAiA MIDI2CV for my modular using a diode drop for the
negative supply on the CD4051 and it works fine. I used a 4K7 resistor
feeding the diode to create the -0.7V negative supply.

Subject: [sdiy] CD405x series power supply question

Hey folks, Crow here. The specs for the 4052 state an supply voltage
range of 20V for Vee=Vss=0V, and 18V for Vee=-Vdd using split dual supplies
(+/-9V). I have a case where I need to bias the Vee down about 1V, creating
a 16V supply interval. While I think this is safe, I have blown these parts
up before with supply voltage games and wanted to ask if anyone has tinkered
with small negative values for Vee on the 4051/4052/4053. I usually use the
DG508/509 for this sort of thing, but those parts are 8 times as pricey as a
4052 and I am using 2 of them on a project as part of two VC ADSR circuits.
