Well spotted. The "Bulk Dump Format for Sequence Data" above the bit you're using suggests 0x40 for CLP-811, and 0x3E for CLP-61, so give that a try too.

I absolutely agree. And the manual I found claimed to have a MIDI implementation chart on Pg66, but Pg66 wasn't there. Groan.
