I can't remember them getting hot to be honest. However, looking at the
schematic again each Iabc pin could take a maximum of 4mA or so which
would, when the OTA is fully on, mean that the IC is dissipating at
least 120mW.
Does the 3280 get cooler if you turn down the master volume?
