Hi all.
After many years away, I've recently revisited my modular synth
hobby, and am really glad to be here again. (I was a member of
synthdiy many years back.)
In the mid 1990's, a close friend and I were building two modulars
together. I was starting with a little Penfold, and he was digging
into a Formant.
About a quarter of the way into our projects, he drove his motorcycle
into the front of a truck, and that was the end of that. It's taken
about 15 years for me to even open the boxes of parts again.
But, here I am. It's time.
So I've been repairing my Penfold, and having a look at what he got
done on the Formant.
I fully understand that the Penfold is kind of crappy, but whatever.
It's a good way to jump back in.
My questions for today is, has anyone improved the Penfold designs?
Better stability, sound, etc? I seem to remember that there were some
errors in the schematics too. Are there updated Penfold circuits?
Also, what other easy non-Penfold 12v modules are recommended?
Thanks guys! Please be patient, I have 15 years of dumb questions accumulated!
Jim
