[sdiy] Concerning IC sockets

This message was posted to the Muffwiggler list today, and I thought it
would be of interest to those following the IC socket thread here:

Great news.  I installed a new IC in the VCA and nearly all the noise went
away.  I did the same to the Pan/Fade module, and again same result.

KEEP IN MIND that I bought both of them USED from someone here at Wiggly
forum.  Both units are over 8 years old, and were bought from someone that
used them to process outboard signals.  Their history is a bit vague at
best, so who knows what they were subjected too?

So after installing $1.00 (one dollar) worth of replacement ICs in them
both, noise nearly 100% gone!  It was a stupid-easy replacement thanks to
the forethought of Roger Arrick to socket-mount the OTAs (main chips).

So anyhow ..... FIXED!
