I'm highly dubious of how well MIDI will perform over a network.  Imagine
playing jazz fusion over wireless ethernet.  However, this skeptic is
eager to be proved wrong.

I have heard of experiments of MIDI over networks and understand that
network latency is tolerable on small closed local networks.
