FYI
The rand function in C libraries is typically of the form: rnd = (rnd * x) +
y; where x and y are constants. These aren't good random number generators
for a lot of work. LFSRs are usually a lot better.

This may be heresy, but many C compilers include a rand() function as
part of their C library. You might want to see if you already have it.
