hm, I don't know for sure for the K2500 but I recently used my *cough* Doepfer R2M ribbon controller in MIDI mode.
The R2M has (among others) a high-res mode where it sends 14-bit pitch bend data followed by pre-defined 
Note-On message when touched and a corresponding Note-Off when being released.
Pretty straight forward and easy to handle.
