Ill cut whatever anyone asks me to : )

...but i dont think ive ever gone below 2mm.  The point of stress on a
19" rack is the ears, so, in that case, it depends on the depth of the
rack, and what anyone is putting in it.

This morning i sent out some 5u x 1u x 2.0mm panels to someone, which
were designed to take a joystick, hence had a reasonable sized hole in
them.  They did not feel unstable at all, but then, i guess, if the
joystick 'stick' was long enough, and an intoxicated passer-by got
hold of it in a club...

"Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it..."

(so it does, i think, depend on your application also!)
