No, something happened with the ownership. They went from Perkkin Elmer to Excelitas. The price sky rocketed, then was back down. I know I spent $1000 on them at $9 each thinking that was the best price I ever get again. Then a month later they were back to $4. ugh.

For a while, it seemed like everyone was thinking that they were about to go for good, and prices shot up as people did emergency last-time-buys. But then the smoke cleared and vactrols are still here, at least for the moment.
