I have found Coolaudio 2164 into almots all Behringer 'tube' devices : used as
anoise gate  it seems . They probably do this into each of their noisy device =
almost all in fact ;)

While corporates like this will continue to use this chip , it will nopt
disappear ... In the worst case it will always be possible to purchase their
cheapeast devices just to grabb the SSM2164 chip inside

No ! There are  still transistors  to build  VCAs  !! ;)


But i aggree that it is futile to try to motivate AD to re-issue SSM chips ,
sadly we reprensent nothing for them ! Esle all the good SSM and MAT chips would
still be available ...
