I would think thats a valid worry.  FR4 is nasty stuff and I mostly use my
shear for pcboards and .050 aluminum but when the blades are 8" long,
sharpening isn't a huge deal...

Grizzly is usually the better source and the Harbor Freight version routinely 
goes on sale for $99.
