Here's a crude method that I use:
Score the cut line using a sharp knife and straight edge. Both sides work
best. Don't need to go very deep. Pinch the cut line in a bench vise so
that it is just visible. Break the board with uniform pressure along the
cut line. Might need to work the board back and forth if the first break
isn't clean. Clean the edges with dremel or sand paper if needed.
The width of your bench vise jaws will determine the largest board you can
break.
