[sdiy] PCB Layout Software?

I really, really like GNU gschem/pcb... 

But the request was for specifically for a beginner, and I'm not sure it's the best choice for a beginner.  I'm not even sure if I'm a reasonable judge for what's best for a beginner.  So I'll shut up...

Except to say that I really, really like GNU gschem/pcb.
