Yes, when the meaning of some events is relative to previous ones
(this is the case when the delay is used for gate transitions, or also
midi events which are highly context-sensitive), anything that would
not respect the order of events would cause problems... though I'm
sure there would be some interesting creative uses of an effect that
shuffles the temporal order of music events!
