Julian,

Here is a link to the Cirrus demo board, take a look:

Looks like the DAC is happy with just a passive filter. But if you need
some more amplitude then yes use an amp on the output. A straight
inverting amp would work well. But remember if the polarity is important
invert the data before it goes to the DAC.
