Wow!
Of course, you could avoid all these problems by using the pot to change the
control voltage of a VCA. Now, not only does the pot not have to carry the
audio signal, but you can now easily put the pot's function under voltage
control. Given the availability of so many high-quality, low-noise VCA
chips, and well-documented circuits for achieving all manner of audio
manipulations with those chips, why should we still bother with physical
pots for audio?
