[sdiy] OT( installing PICKIT2 drivers on OSX)

I know it works with PICKIT3 (in some cases however you first need to 
connect it to a PC to update the PICKIT's firmware aaaargh).

For PICKIT2 I personally I run WindowsXP under a VM (Virtuabox, VMWare, 
Parallels or the like)...never had any issues.
On the PICKIT2 page they do seem to have the PK2CMD utility for Linux 
and Mac, so if that works you could program from the command-line.
