Very important, I've almost got fooled by this once, the Eagle
footprint for DIP14 is shorter than the chip. I leave at least 200 mil
between the first and last pad of a DIP14 and an adjacent non-DIP14
package ; more between two DIP14s. This is still a bit short to allow
easy chip extraction with a tool.
I've been using this "back to back chips, R and C on the sides" for 6
or 7 boards and never had any problem:
