[sdiy] SSM2040 OEM stocks in Europe...???

Hi list,
I contacted an 'Obsolete part seeker' specialised in rare parts findings
to find some SSM2040 VCF IC's. 
I told him to be aware of 'Fake re-printed IC's' coming from China..
He contacted me minutes later and said:
"I have a possibility to acquire up to 48 pcs.. they are coming from an OEM with excess stock in Europe."
What do you guys think about these 48 parts excess stock.?
