[sdiy] Changing power supply voltages

I should probably just try this & see but:
I got two surplus power supplies each rated 5V at 30A & +/-12V at 5A. I want
+/-15V. The supplies are switchers with LM431's for the bipolar
sections, with a large pass transistor for each rail. There are nice
trimmers begging to be reset, but I wonder how far from 12V they'll take
me. I suppose if I'm disappointed, all I should have to is change the
trimmer and maybe a fixed resistor somewhere. The LM431's are on little
modules that have a dual opamp on them too. I only paid $20 for both, so
I suppose I can't see the harm in mucking with one...
I figure these supplies should power a nice, big modular synth, eh?
