The other way around - the integrator is reset but not the counter...
otherwise I guess strange things would happen as the ramp goes higher
than normal? :-)

Is that perhaps done in the JX-8P? IIRC, there is some 4-position
switch on the PG-800 called "cross-mod 0-1-2-3"... what is it called
on the synth's display?
