This is a DC coupled VCA, do you have any DC offsets in your input signals ?
You might try AC coupling the inputs...
This uses an unconventional method to control by varying the negative supply voltage to the chip. I don't
know firsthand how good it is...
I think Juergen Bergfors did a "VCA Shootout" that you should look up as a reference to how most common
VCA circuits perform compared with each other.

Hey guys. I have a number of these VCA's in my system and they click horribly upon opening/closing.. I'd like to improve these....
