Dont know if this has been noted earlier but anyway, from 2009 but
quite interesting.

It's difficult to rank chips, they all play significant roles in given times.
But for a dedicated audio/synth list i would pick OTA, then CEM's.
But for the all time greatest i would pick the Cmos 555 any Op amp
the OTA , and the 6502, Z80 or so.

But the biggest game changers are probably boring chips like ADSL or
Modem or some internet routing switch chip, chips none cares or hear about!
