This is a TOTAL newb question, but...  I've seen at least one
implementation of an alleged transconductance amplifier using a 741 as
the base (but not used in synths).  IF you can explain in a paragraph
or two, I'm curious why that sort of thing is not used more generally
given the relative scarcity of the dedicated OTAs.  And if my question
exhibits a level of ignorance that can't be addressed on list, then
feel free to ignore me (or send me links for research) too :-D
